Farmland Rain Water Harvesting Systems, Chikkamagaluru, the creators of the first-of-its-kind, innovative, self-cleaning, roof top rainwater harvesting filter ‘Rainy,’ have received the Aqua Foundations Excellence Award 2017 in the category of Industrial Excellence in Technology Development.
The award was presented recently at the International XI World Aqua Congress 2017 in New Delhi. Dr. Vandana Shiva, an Indian scholar and environmental activist, presented the award to Michael Baptist and Vijayraj, directors of Farmland Rainwater Harvesting Systems.
The ‘Aqua Excellence Awards’ are the highest honours bestowed by the Aqua Foundation on its members, stakeholders, and contributors in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the fields of water, environment, energy, earth sciences, atmospheric sciences, planetary sciences, pollution control, and sustainability solutions.
Individuals/nominees of corporate members who have made a mark in their respective fields of expertise or have made a significant contribution to humanity are honoured by the Aqua Foundation at each World Aqua Congress.
Farmland Rainwater Harvesting System has been at the forefront of rainwater harvesting for over a decade and a half, with respect to both rooftop and groundwater recharge via indigenous ground-breaking technology involving dual intensity filters to store and reuse rainwater and Farmland V-Wire Injection Well to recharge ground water sources. Because of their increased success rate in the field, both of these technologies have gained widespread acceptance in both the public and private sectors.
The company’s ongoing efforts to establish a state-of-the-art R&D and hydraulic testing lab in Chikkamagaluru with the most modern and sophisticated machinery and equipment for research, allowing students from across the country to conduct water-saving research, is a feather in its cap.
Because of its revolutionary technology and widespread acceptance throughout the country, the company has assisted people in saving precious water and power in areas where drinking water is scarce.
With the assistance of a large dealer network, the company has installed over 1,40,000 rooftop installations and over 13,800 recharging structures throughout the country to date. The product of the company has been exported to 21 countries.
Three national and two international awards have been given to the company for its efforts in water conservation. The recent Aqua Foundation Award is an addition to the foundation’s existing awards.
