The greenway joins with the River Walk on the confluence of the San Pedro Creek and the San Antonio River near Mission Concepción. The world-renowned city waterway known as the River Walk is a public park open one year a year, welcoming over 14 million individuals annually. Home to numerous special occasions, the River Walk extends about 15 miles. After the San Antonio River flooded the downtown district in 1921, San Antonio native and architect Robert Hugman submitted his plans for the River Walk for flood management Travel & Leasuire of the river. Another landmark project under development is North Carolina Freedom Park, a space that can honor African American struggles and triumphs in pursuit of freedom, justice, equality and opportunity.
